Difference Between Types of Senior Care

As people age, they may experience new struggles with activities of daily living (ADLs). Things like caring for themselves, household chores, independent movement, meal planning, feeding, and others can impact a senior’s quality of life.

Luckily, there are types of senior care that provides the support they need. These solutions range from minimal support to comprehensive care.

Types of Senior Care

Adult Day Care

Senior living communities may offer programs where seniors can spend time within the community. Giving caregivers the opportunity to catch up on responsibilities or a chance to recharge.

Benton House offers half and full day options where guests can enjoy our warm, caring atmosphere.

This service is not available within our South Carolina communities.

Respite

Sometimes, seniors need a short-term care solution. Most senior living communities offer options ranging from a week to a month, depending on the senior’s needs. This includes complete care, support, dining, and anything else they need.

Our respite program welcomes seniors into our community. Where they can enjoy everything Benton House offers.

Senior Living

Senior living does not always mean comprehensive support. They are a great option for seniors who are seeking an option where they can enjoy social opportunities and eliminating activities like household chores. It is an option where seniors can care for themselves but want to enjoy the benefits of a senior living community.

Benton House welcomes all residents and provides comprehensive services to ensure they can focus on the important things in life. Like spending time with family, friends, and simply having fun. Residents enjoy socialization opportunities, like a variety of activities and events, daily.

Assisted Living

Seniors that need help with ADLs benefit from assisted living care. This is where the community delivers support based on their needs.

At Benton House, we take the time to get to know our residents. Allowing us the opportunity to welcome them into our family and to learn their needs. Which enables us to develop a plan of care to meet those needs. So, residents enjoy an ideal balance of independence and support.

Memory Care

Those experiencing Alzheimer’s Disease or other memory loss require specialized care. Communities may offer care options with a focus on caring for those with memory loss.

Our approach to memory care is the Beacon Neighborhood. An area of our community dedicated to serving those with memory loss. This bright, beautiful area provides assisted living support within an innovative design that is open, homelike, and keypad-protected.

Skilled Care

Skilled care, also known as a nursing home, serves seniors with more involved medical needs. Where there is skilled staff available to provide all the care seniors need.

Benton House differs from skilled care, as it offers a more residential setting designed to serve those with less medical support needs.
