Benton House received a national Innovation Award for using specially trained dogs to detect COVID. Of course, with testing now widely available. These dogs have transitioned to traditional house dogs. But the therapy and love they offer is still an incredible service.

Residents are welcome and encouraged to have pets too!

There are a few requirements, like a one-time fee for pets. We have size restrictions—sorry, no elephants. Pets must be community living appropriate and people friendly. And residents must be able to care for their pet.

That said, the companionship a pet provides is invaluable and they become mascots by default.

Our family already has a variety of cats, dogs, fish, and birds. They are an integral part of the Benton House family.

Active Lifestyle

Benton House communities have a full-time social director who oversees the planning of activities and events.

Residents can take part in events seven days a week, not just Monday through Friday. Events include:

“Every Day is Special”—Daily events based on unique fun facts for the day
Happy Hour—Weekly events featuring hot hors d’oeuvres and entertainment
Special—Monthly themed dinners that residents can enjoy with family
